This program covers all the entry level positions that we have in the hotel, including duties in the following departments: Housekeeping; Custodial; Laundry; Front Office; Security Office; F&B and the Recreation Department (excluding Recreation Instructors).
The appointment is for 15 months. If you are selected as a Resort Hotel Attendant, you may be assigned to work in any of the above listed departments based on the needs of the organization.

Works under general supervision. Follows simple oral and written instructions and work schedule. Supervisor or leader assigns tasks and incumbent is responsible for accomplishment of assigned work. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for production, quality, appearance, and overall guest satisfaction. Supervisor is available to answer questions on unusual matters and to handle specific problems.
Serves as a Resort Hotel Attendant in one of the departments of the Armed Forces Recreation Center, Edelweiss Lodge & Resort in Garmisch. Incumbent performs any or all of the following duties as required for the successful operation of the resort.
Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy-duty powered equipment. Operates industrial equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc. Performs routine maintenance of equipment.
Food and Beverage Attendant
Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary. Serves food by order and proper proportion. Break down and cleans tables and area when meal is finished and returns dishes and food to the kitchen area. Brews coffee according to the number of servings required. Assembles or toss fresh fruit and green salads in quantity using prepared dressings and portions into standard serving sizes. Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients. Washes tables and counters. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators. Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils such as mixing bowls or pots. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Loads and operates dishwashers. Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware.
Takes orders placed by patrons for alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Orders drinks from Bartenders and delivers to patrons. Maintains sales record. Collects cash or payment by credit card. Keeps service bar area clean and orderly. Cleans and clears customer service areas. May assist bartender in dispensing beverages and restocking the bar area.
Responsible for conference room configuration, beginning with organizing tables, chairs, audio/video equipment from storage, to actually setup of this furniture/equipment in accordance to established banquet event orders (BEO) to breakdown and proper storage of this equipment in an efficient and organized manner. Loads and unloads equipment and furniture, moves materials using hand trucks or dollies; stacks and arranges for storage. Moves heavy items of furniture and office equipment as required for the applicable conference/meeting set up.
Recreation Aid (Leisure Activities)
Provides guests with local information concerning available programs and activities, making individual reservations, answering questions concerning any aspect of operated facilities and providing prompt, courteous service in any area requested. Receives payments, issues receipts as required, documents business transactions through computer posting entries, process retail sales through cash register, ensures proper internal control procedures on key issue, money transactions, safeguarding of hotel property and guest service are followed.
Front Office Operations Clerk
Assists guests in the completion of required registration procedures, issuing VingCard room keys. Computes charges for guests checking out through computer posting entries, receives payments and room keys; renders receipts. At the end of shift, accounts for and secures cash in accordance with standard operating procedures. Renders any appropriate personal assistance such as opening doors, storing and/or carrying luggage, calling taxis and providing directions to points of interest or locations and types of lodging services. Delivers and accepts messages, packages, special amenities, cots/cribs, irons, ironing boards etc., as required. Must be knowledgeable of the general lodging layout, parking and room features. Maintains cleanliness in the lobbies as needed. Assists with lost and found requests. Receives and routes telephone calls from the Phone Branch Exchange (PBX). Places long-distance and special calls, as required. Provides directory assistance; revises and updates directories utilized as directed. Performs administrative support duties necessary for smooth telephone operations.
Performs customer service relations work that contributes toward the well-being of guests and the protection and safety of other employees and government property. Performs routine security checks to insure buildings, gates and equipment are properly locked or secured. Inspects grounds for fire, break-in, vandalism or trespassing. As required, checks identification of persons. Uses tact and diplomacy to deny entrance to unauthorized personnel. Ensures that patrons comply with applicable rules and standards. Must at times be persuasive and forceful in dealing with persons whose conduct is unacceptable. Reports incidents to proper authority. Maintains log of incidents and reports.
Ensures compliance with fire, safety, and security standards. Ensures all force protection technical systems such as fire alarms, intrusion detection systems, and CCTV, where applicable, are operating and maintained. In support of 24-hour hotel operations and limited third shift staffing, maintains an up-to-date working knowledge of all departmental functions necessary to ensure contingency of operations and guest services during the evening and night hours. Maintains a working knowledge of all computer and emergency systems. Works in conjunction and in full cooperation with the military police, fire department, and other emergency response officials.
