Zugspitze & Eibsee

Visit Germany’s tallest mountain peak with or without skis! The summit view at 2,962 meters is an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

One ticket price allows access to the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn, Eibsee-Seilbahn, and Gletscherbahn for one trip up and one trip down. Tickets sold at Alpine Adventures are valid any day of the season. Because tickets are non-refundable, we suggest buying tickets the morning of your adventure rather than purchasing the tickets in advance.

2 OPTIONS TO REACH THE SUMMIT:

• Take the cogwheel train from the Eibsee. The train departs once an hour between 0845-1445 hrs. Once you arrive at the Sonn Alpin (glacier) the Gletscherbahn cable car will take you to the top every 15-30 minutes.

• Take the Eibsee-Seilbahn (cable car). It is a 10-minute ride up and 10-minute ride down running during the hours of 0800-1630 hrs.

The cable car will take you from the Eibsee to the top station. A nice adventure is to take the cable car up and the train down.

The cogwheel train departs from locations other than Eibsee, and is included in the Zugspitze ticket price. The closest train stop to Edelweiss Lodge and Resort is the Kreuzeck / Alpspitze station.

TO REACH THE KREUZECK / ALPSPITZE TRAIN STOP BY FOOT:

• Exit through the Executive Offices hallway and follow signs to Security gate exit

• Exit the Security gate located in the corner of the kaserne, turn left onto Kruezeckbahnstraße and follow it toward the mountains

• The train stop is between the Kruezeckbahn and the Alpspitzbahn

• The train departs this location once an hour between 0824-1424 hrs daily (Kruezeck/Alpspitze stop)

Please Note: It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the train stop.

On occasion, visitors must switch trains in Grainau. Listen for instructions in English if it is necessary. The train then continues to the Eibsee and then the Zugspitzplatt.

ONCE ON THE TRAIN:

You have two options to reach the summit:

• Exit the train at the Eibsee Stop and take the cable car up (the cable car entrance is inside of the Zugspitzbahn building located just below the hill from the train stop)

• Continue on the train to the glacier through an inner mountain pass (this method will add about 40 additional minutes to the trip)

TO REACH THE EIBSEE CABLE CAR STATION BY CAR:

• Turn Left out of the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort

• Turn Left at the light onto Zugspitzstraße

• Turn Left toward Grainau (you will see signs toward the Zugspitzbahn and the Eibsee)

• Stay on this road through the town of Grainau

• Take a Left following signs toward Zugspitze / Eibsee

There is a minimal parking fee. The Eibsee cable car and Eibsee train stop are located at this parking lot. You can take either the cable car or the train to the summit.

The Eibsee lies at the base of the Zugspitze - Germany’s highest mountain.

Enjoy a quiet stroll along the shore, rent a paddle boat for the day or relax along the water’s edge.

TRAVEL BY CAR

• Turn Left out of the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort

• Turn Left at the light onto Zugspitzstraße

• Turn Left toward Grainau (you will see signs toward the Zugspitzbahn and the Eibsee)

• Stay on this road and it will take you straight to the Eibsee

PARKING AT EIBSEE:

€7 for 4 hours with Zugspitze ticket

€17 for 4 hours without Zugspitze ticket

TRAVEL BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
